Panasonic in Japan has been collaborating with TABLE FOR TWO International since 2009. To date, Panasonic and TABLE FOR TWO have donated over 1.5 million school meals to children in developing countries. We continue to be committed to addressing global food imbalance and supporting children’s education through nutrition.

On the occasion of World Food Day on 16 October 2024, Panasonic in Europe has now also joined the collaboration with TABLE FOR TWO. The team provided an initial donation of 100,000 school meals, following our purpose of creating a caring world by enabling people to enjoy and share food and cooking.

We at Panasonic Europe are delighted to be able to support TABLE FOR TWO’s work by donating five school meals for every kitchen appliance sold on our Panasonic online shop between 1 October 2024 and 31 March 2025.

Join us in supporting a world of healthier eating!

ABOUT TABLE FOR TWO

In our world of 8 billion people, around 750 million suffer from hunger – while more than 1 billion suffer from obesity and other health-related issues due to unhealthy eating.

TABLE FOR TWO International, a global non-profit organisation founded in Japan in 2007, aims to combat these problems. The organisation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing school meals to children in need. The SDGs are a collection of 17 global goals serving as a kind of blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for everyone.

The name "TABLE FOR TWO" comes from the image of us in developed countries and children in developing countries sitting around the table and sharing meals across time and space.

RWANDA SCHOOL MEAL PROGRAMME

Panasonic supports TABLE FOR TWO's school meal programme at three schools (around 2,517 children) in the Banda village in Rwanda. This remote, off-the-grid village is located in a forest nestled in the mountains. It takes an hour by car to reach the nearest paved road.

Education is the key to expanding the future potential of the younger generation in the village. The school meal programme consists of healthy school meals which meet the nutritional needs of children:

  • Breakfast – porridge, called sosoma, made from soybeans, sorghum and maize, fortified with vitamins and minerals.
  • Lunch – a variety of meals including various vegetables, starches (e.g. rice, cassava, potatoes, maize flour), beans, proteins (e.g. eggs and small fish) and fruits.

These meals are prepared in a community kitchen with vegetables from the community’s own garden and are transported to the schools. One meal costs just 0.20 euro cents.
